Senior Linux Server / Client Engineer Consultant
As a consultant, you will support the engineering, operation, and continuous improvement of virtualized Linux and Windows development environments used by development teams and internal stakeholders. You will work closely with infrastructure, DevOps, and software development teams, contributing both operational excellence and technical leadership.

Responsibilities
- Engineering, operation, and support of virtualized Linux development clients and servers (Ubuntu, Debian), including lifecycle management, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
- Further development, optimization, and automation of platforms, toolchains, and infrastructure services (Scripting, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD integrations)
- Engineering, operation, and support of virtualized Windows development clients (for example Windows 11 build management, software distribution, configuration management)
- Automation and standardization of infrastructure services using modern DevOps methods and tools
- Incident, problem, and change management for the supported platforms
- Technical consulting and close collaboration with development teams and internal stakeholders
- Active contribution to the evaluation of new technologies and the continuous improvement of the infrastructure landscape
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in engineering, operating, and supporting Linux servers and clients, ideally with Ubuntu and Debian
- Solid experience operating virtualized development environments (Linux and Windows), preferably in VMware-based infrastructures
- Strong understanding of modern infrastructure components such as virtualization, backup systems, and basic networking
- Experience with Windows developer clients (for example Chocolatey for Business, application packaging, scripting)
- Strong scripting and automation skills in one or more languages such as Bash, Python, Go, or Java
- Practical experience with DevOps methods and CI/CD pipelines
- Background in software development or strong technical affinity with development teams and workflows
- Structured, precise working style with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication skills, team spirit, conflict-resolution ability, and a proactive mindset
- High level of ownership, responsibility, and solution-oriented thinking
- German: good spoken and written / English: good spoken and written
